are you becoming what you want to become?
what do you want to be when you grow up? what do you want to be better at? what do you want to excel in? what do you want people to remember you for? what do you want to be able to say when you look back at your life? what are you doing now to position yourself for the future? what matters most to you? what do you love? what do you value most? what do you feel most strongly about? what things do you want to accomplish? what are your goals? why do you do the things you do? how do you spend your time everyday? are you happy with the way things are? do you want more? what do people say about you?
i’m usually very introspective, but recently i’ve been even more so. with my work life, family life, and spiritual life. there are things i know i want to happen in life but haven’t been disciplined enough to ensure progress is being made in all of the specific areas. i’m going to change that. do you know what you want? if not, try starting with what you don’t want.
hank murphy band

georgia swamp
was on my way back to athens from augusta today and decided to pull over & take some pictures. i drive down this road quite often when heading south and every time i see this swampy area i’m always intrigued. i think this shows why.
some of my old paintings & drawings
this is an incomplete collection of paintings & drawings i did while in college. click here to see them in full.
speed stacking!
it’s crazy to me how people can become so good at any given thing. whether it’s basketball, juggling, or … err … stacking cups. to me this speaks volumes of what focused intensity can do. what would happen if you turned some laser beam focus on any of your own ambitions or goals?
the studio – before & after
ok …. i’m still not technically done with my studio space, but i’m just too excited about the progress not to post something.
after about 30 minutes of digging through my old external hard drive I found this picture of the ‘would-be’ office before any work was done on it. it was apparently originally created as some type of play room, designed to make little kids go crazy while hitting their head on the low hanging fans.
and now …. for the remodel.
it’s been a slow process …. first i gutted everything including lights, fans, walls, etc. then I rewired and installed some recessed lights in combination with putting up all the sheetrock. after that, the ever-so-laborious process of mudding, sanding, mudding, sanding, mudding, sanding. the office sat with the sheetrock finished for quite a while until i got some more motivation to get painting.
this last weekend i finally primed and painted everything … and I’m quite content with the results. I’ve still got to build another little custom closet door, install the base molding, as well as the door and window molding. after that i’ve got to get in the attic and figure out why the AC isn’t pumping in there. (not really looking forward to that) but that should be it!
i can then migrate my workspace from the cluttered desk in my bedroom to my spankin’ new studio space! ohh the anticipation.
new mdscubed website
check out the new mdscubed website. it will be more in-depth in the future but for now it shows some various mds cubed services and applications.
terrapin beer cubed
here is a tour of the terrapin brewing company located in beautiful athens, ga. i recently visited and shot the inside and out of their building during one of their onsite ‘tours’. if only they had given me some sunray wheat to take home. =)
